TRA is committed to ensuring staff take all reasonable steps to protect the data privacy of TRA members.

Data privacy policy

The Minnesota Teachers Retirement Association (TRA) is committed to ensuring its personnel take all reasonable steps to protect the data privacy of TRA members. TRA responds to all requests for member data in accordance with Minnesota Statutes. This policy ensures a consistent response that protects the data privacy of members.

We implemented the following procedures and technology to protect your private data:

  • Employee access to member information is limited to those who have a business reason to access the information.
  • Private data transmitted to/from TRA is sent using encryption.
  • Physical security and technological security measures have been put in place to prevent unauthorized access to your information.
  • Policies and procedures to maintain the proper security of information databases, applications, networks, and physical records have been implemented.

Member data disclosure

Within the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act, TRA is specifically governed by Minnesota Statutes 13.43, Subd. 2a, “Data disclosure by statewide pension plans,” which states, “retirement systems may be only required to disclose name, gross pension, and type of benefit awarded.”
