TRA honored for fiscal excellence

Several local and national organizations have honored TRA for excellence in financial stewardship. The national Public Pension Coordinating Council awarded TRA its Public Pension Standards Award for Funding and its Public Pension Standards Award for Administration for 2018. The PPCC is a confederation of the National Association of State Retirement Administrators (NASRA), the National Conference on Public Employee Retirement Systems (NCPERS) and the National Council on Teacher Retirement (NCTR).

The Government Finance Officers Association has awarded TRA its Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2017. This is the the 20th consecutive year that TRA has received the GFOA’s achievement certificate. In addition, the Minnesota Office of the Legislative Auditor in December issued a “clean” audit opinion with regard to the fairness and material accuracy of the fiscal year 2018 financial statements TRA presented.

In December, State Board of Investment Executive Director Mansco Perry was honored by Gov. Mark Dayton, who proclaimed Dec. 13 Mansco Perry Day to coincide with Perry receiving a Lifetime Achievement award from Chief Investment Officer magazine. Perry oversees the investment management of pension and other state assets totaling over $97 billion. In his proclamation, Dayton mentioned Perry’s implementation of operational improvements and development of innovations to enhance investment returns while mitigating risk. Dayton described Perry as a skillful, thoughtful leader and long-term strategic investor.
